How to choose software for a karate dojo.
Gym software handles fees and timetables well, but a karate dojo also needs its kyu and dan scale, kids groups with intermediate belts and grading sessions. Ask any software to show you all that with your dojo’s data before you decide.

Frequently asked questions about software for karate
Does it work for Shotokan, Goju-ryu, Wado-ryu, Shito-ryu or Kyokushin?
Yes. DigitalDojo isn’t tied to a style: you set up the kyu, dan and belt colours your school uses, even if they differ from other styles or federations.
How many kyu can I set up?
As many as your school uses. Some styles start at 10th kyu and others at 8th or 6th; you define the full scale up to black belt and its dan grades.
Can I separate kata and kumite classes?
Yes. You create kata, kumite, kihon or mixed classes, each with its timetable and instructor, and take attendance in each one. Attendance can be checked by class or by student.
How do I prepare a kyu grading session?
You review the candidates’ attendance and history, record the result and the new belt goes onto their profile.
Does it work for dojos affiliated to a national federation?
Yes. You set up the grades according to your federation or your school, and the dan grades awarded by the federation are stored on the profile with their date. DigitalDojo doesn’t process federation licences: that’s still done with your federation.
Does it work for after-school groups?
Yes. You create a group by school, age or level, take attendance in each session and keep each child’s family contact on their profile.
Can my students see their belt and attendance?
Yes. On their phone, in the student portal, they book their classes and see which ones they’ve attended, their belts and the dojo ranking. Achievements and experience points (XP) are coming soon.
How much does the software cost for a karate dojo?

Can I bring my students over from an Excel sheet?
Yes. You import the list from Excel or create the profiles one by one. It’s worth reviewing the template first and doing an initial import with a few students.

Can I export my data if I decide to leave?
Of course. All your data — students, payments, attendance, ranks — can be exported to CSV or Excel at any time with one click. Your data is yours, always. No vendor lock-in.
Is it secure? Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. DigitalDojo fully complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data is stored on servers inside the EU (Frankfurt), encrypted in transit and at rest, and we provide tools to manage your students’ consent and rights.
